

Jerry was born on May 1, 1926 in Platner, Colorado to Leslie Shannon and Betty Foster Shannon. He grew up in northeastern Colorado farming and ranching. Following school, he immediately joined the US Army, serving in World War II. He married Margie Jean Mountain on June 18, 1945.
Upon his return to Colorado, he entered the construction field. He worked with his brothers Warren Shannon and Jean Shannon before starting into his gift of being a finish carpenter. Through the years, he also worked with John Black Construction and Krische Construction, among others.
Jerry loved to square dance and acted as President of Hix n Chixs while active with the organization.
Preceding him in death are his wife Magie Jean Shannon and his son David Martin Shannon, brothers Jean Shannon, Max Shannon and sisters Dorothy Archiquete Shannon, Vivian Tisdale Shannon and Sally Clift Shannon.
Surviving are his children Patty (Jerry) Johnson of Laramie, Wyoming; a son Michael Shannon of Longmont; a brother Warren Shannon of Denver; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
