Gerry was born in Los Angeles, California to parents Gerald Dewey Kater and Grace (Burns) Kater. Gerry graduated from the University of San Francisco and served as Executive Secretary at the Orange County Dept. of Education until retirement in 1987. Following a number of years as a substitute teacher, Gerry resigned to work more closely with her husband, Frank, an adjunct professor at Azusa Pacific University. In 2006, they left their long-time home in Orange County California and moved to Longmont, Colorado. Following the death of her husband, Gerry became an active volunteer for various charity organizations and always felt it was better to give than receive. Gerry leaves behind a blended family who will miss her dearly. Donations can be made in Gerry’s honor to a charity of choice.
