Glade Newell Bagnell, of Longmont, Colorado, peacefully passed away on September 6, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by family at his home. He was born September 19, 1940, in Coaville, Utah, to Kenneth Bagnell and Inez (Blazzard) Bagnell. He was raised in Kamas, Utah, with two sisters, Loa and Carma. As a boy, he loved to ride horses and to fish. His mother passed away when he was sixteen years old. His father later remarried Lorraine Hasler of Midway, Utah.
Glade graduated from high school in 1958 and attended Utah State University. Glade married Raelene Forsberg and together they had two children, Leisa Marie and Gregory Forsberg. In September 1985, he married Marilyn Longseth Hanson, who had two sons, John J. Hanson and Benjamin M. Hanson.
Glade was an accomplished mechanical engineer with a long career in the disk industry. He began his career with IBM and Storage Technology, followed by occupation with hard disk drive startups, most notable, Conner Peripherals, later acquired by Seagate. During his outstanding career, he was issued several patents by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for many inventions and development of disk components. Beyond his profession and into retirement, family and friends could always count on Glade to fix any type of machinery, large or small, as he loved the challenge and would not quit until the job was completed.
After retirement, Glade and Marilyn acquired a large acreage west of Longmont that included a private lake which once again fulfilled Glade’s lifelong love of the outdoors, fishing and horses. A new occupation accompanied the purchase of the acreage – hay farming, which he also enjoyed. Countless memorable gatherings of family and friends were held near the lake. He owned many horses during his lifetime, and loved taking camping trips, hunting, and riding mountain trails with the horses and friends. He especially loved taking annual trips to Alaska to fish. Other hobbies included woodworking and making jewelry.
Glade is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of Longmont, his sister, Carma (Harry) Sutherland, his children, Gregory Bodhaine (Amabel), Leisa Plocher (John), John Hanson (Deanne) and Benjamin Hanson (Casie); thirteen grandchildren, who loved their grandpa tremendously, Sherri Lowery (Tom), Shawnie Hatch (Tyler), Todd Plocher (Carey), Kate Asbury (Nathan), Ian Plocher (Bailey), Cameron Bodhaine, Kelsey Watkins (Stephen), Drake and Zach Hanson, Ryn, Ryl, and Amry Bodhaine; and fourteen great grandchildren.
