Guadalupe "Lupe" Montes

Guadalupe “Lupe” Montes passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025 in Longmont, Colorado. She was born on April 13, 1930, also in Longmont, to her proud parents, Ramon Montes and Grace Gomez. She was a member of a big family and had a total of 7 siblings. They were all very close and seemed to always be laughing together. She and her family loved each other very much and were fiercely protective of one another.

Later in life, Lupe married Vincent Gonzales on October 12, 1948, in Denver, Colorado. Lupe also had eight children – one girl and seven boys: Kathryn, Richard, Stanley, Robert, Raymond, Merce, Leroy, and Charles. Professionally she worked as the Supervisor of Laundry and Housekeeping at Applewood Living Center in Longmont, Colorado. She held that position for over twenty years and was very proud of the work she did.

Lupe will be fondly remembered as a loving and nurturing Mother. There was nothing she would not do for her kids, as they were her pride and joy. Lupe will be greatly missed by many.

Lupe is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Montes and Grace Gomez. Her children and their spouses, Richard (Carolyn) Gonzales, as well as their daughter, Wesley Pickering, and Merce (Mae) Gonzales. Brother-in-law Manuel Sabedra, Lillian and Nabor Baca, Veronica and Trinidad Aragon, Josephine Marquez, Ciprano and Lucille Montes, Raymond Montes, and Louie Montes.

Lupe is survived by her children: Kathryn Gonzales, Stanley Gonzales, Charles (Janette) Gonzales, Robert Gonzales, Raymond Gonzales, and Leroy Gonzales. Her sister, Carmen Sabedra. Her grandchildren: Keith Hernandez, Ruston (Brittany) Gonzales, Angela Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, Merce Gonzales, Daisy Gonzales, Timothy Gonzales, Zachary Gonzales, Michele (Robert) Watkins, Jeremiah (Jennifer) Gonzales, Jacob (Julie) Gonzales, and Julie Wilson.

Services for Lupe will take place at 11:00 AM on April 14, 2025, at Howe Mortuary, located at 439 Coffman St, Longmont, CO, 80501.

A reception will follow at The Moose - Longmont Lodge 1548, located at 2210 Pratt Street, Longmont, 80501.
