

Harlan R. Glantz of Milliken, Colorado died February 6, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 74.Harlan was born April 2, 1933 on the family farm near Berthoud to Daniel and Margaret (Schwindt) Glantz. He lived on the farm until his teens when Harlan then moved to Hoyt, CO and farmed with his family. After is marriage to Verna Warden on August 21, 1955 in Greeley, CO, he moved to the Longmont area where they raised their family. He had made his home in Milliken since 2003.Called ""Holly"" by his family and friends, he farmed for many years. He owned Front Range Truck Sales near Mead for a number of years before he and his son operated a freight delivery company. Holly was quite inventive which was proved many times over on the farm and in daily life. He could fix everything with anything. Holly was good with numbers. Most of all Holly had a great sense of humor and loved to joke. He was full of quips and stories. Holly worked hard and loved a good party, especially Dutch Hops. In the years of his retirement, he frequently became the loving caregiver for his grandsons and great grandchildren. Holly was known in his family for loving the babies. He was well loved.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Roland, Don, and Marvin Glantz; one sister, LaVern Standiferd; and a grandson, Jeremy Johnson.Holly is survived by his wife Verna of Milliken, CO; two daughters: Brenda (Dave) Schmidt of Johnstown, Co and Kelly (David) Vasta of Charlotte, NC; by three sons: Daniel (Linda) Glantz of Frederick, Co, Kevin (Joanne) Glantz of Ogden, UT, and Barry Glantz of Frederick, CO; six grandchildren: Sara (Kevin) Walton, Justin (Rachel) Glantz, Jamie Glantz, Jarred Glantz, Harley Glantz and Gino Vasta; two great-grandchildren: Cooper and Adelie Walton; seven sisters: Mildred Rutt, Evelyn Green, Betsy Bruntz, Monnie Lee, Judy Sirios, Joyce Hendricks, and Sherry Rasmussen and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at Rinn United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 9 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Todd Everhart officiating.
