

Howard M. (Howie) Fry, 87, of Longmont, died December 14, 2016 at his home. He was born October 21, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to John Howard Fry and Helen Gertrude (McCormick) Fry. Howie and his brother, Robert, were raised in Wyoming, Illinois where they graduated from Wyoming High School. Howie received his Business degree from Bradley University where he was also a Sigma Chi.
Howie married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Diane Whittaker on February 1, 1952 in the First Congregation Church in Chicago, Illinois. They shared a loving 60-year marriage. They first lived in southern Michigan and Chicago, then moved to College Corner, Ohio in 1956, to Manhattan Beach, California in 1966 and to Longmont, Colorado in 1972.
Howie owned and operated Todd & Fry Associates, a successful Manufacturer’s Rep firm that sold electronic products into the computer, aerospace and medical industries in Colorado and Utah. Prior to that, he was the Western Regional Sales Manager for The Kendall Company.
Howie loved life, family, and people. He made friends everywhere he went, had a buoyant personality, and was a kind and generous man.
Mr. Fry was a member of the Elks and of Fox Hill Country Club where he served as a board member. He was a Denver Broncos season ticket holder, and a huge Cubs fan. He loved and followed college basketball faithfully and had picked both final teams in this year’s March madness. Howie also loved to travel and especially enjoyed the times he could visit his family in Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Shirley in 2011. He is survived by his brother Robert Lee (Ann) Fry of North Carolina.
Howie is also survived by his four children: Robert (Kaffee) Fry of Denver, CO, Sally (Mick) Craven of Bend, OR, Cindy (Duane) Bennett of Longmont, and Howard (Linda) Fry of Olathe, CO, by eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Matt, Jeff, Dusty, Sunny, Holly, Meghan, Gail and by twelve great grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
A Celebration of Howard’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. A reception will follow the services.
