

Howard Foster Manning, 89, passed away August 19, 2016 at the Bridge Assisted Living.He was born April 16, 1927 in Stapleton, Nebraska to Howard Leslie and Grace Manning. Howard moved with his family to Colorado, first to Durango and then to Grand Junction where he graduated from High School.After graduation, at the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving his country at the end of WWII. He was honorably discharged.Howard graduated from the University of Colorado in 1952.On November 22, 1956 he married Margaret Jean Richardson.Howard and Margaret lived in Boulder until 1985 and then spent several years in Arvada. They moved to Longmont in 2010 from Monte Vista.Howard had a lengthy career as an income tax consultant and preparer, working for several companies, including H & R Block, McGladrey/Henderson and Lindeberg and Associates. He retired in the mid 1990's.He was a former member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Boulder and Boulder Elks Lodge #566.Howard liked to travel. He and Margaret enjoyed driving their car to a vacation destination. He was a gifted artist enjoying drawing, painting, sculpture and crafting. He also enjoyed photography and loved to read.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Donna Roberts.Howard is survived by his wife Margaret, five children Bob Dodd (Corina), Connie Buswell (Tim Frei), Barry Dodd (Debbie), Barb Vits (Scott) and Charles Manning (Cathy), fifteen grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren with number 10 due soon and a sister Audrey.Memorial services will be held 10:30am Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
