
James G. Craig died April 24, 2012 in Vietnam while traveling with a battlefield tour group. He was 66.James was born December 24, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to Gilbert and Bernice (Pfeiffer) Craig. He grew up in Decatur, Illinois graduating from McArthur High School and Western Illinois University.He served in the U.S. Army 3/21 196th LIB in Vietnam. On May 8, 1976 he married Donna Bley in Rockford, Illinois. Together they moved from Rockford, Illinois to Peoria, IL where they resided for 5 years. They then moved to West Des Moines, Iowa for 14 years before moving to Longmont, Colorado in 1997. James worked as a claims adjuster for Shelter insurance for over 30 years before retiring at age 62 in December of 2007. He belonged to the American Legion Post #32. James was an avid golfer and a marshall at Ute Creek Golf Course. He officiated high school football and basketball games for 20 years and was a huge Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.James was preceded in death by his father Gilbert.He is survived by his wife Donna of Longmont; his daughter DeAnna Craig and husband John Anderson of DeLand, Illinois; his mother Bernice of Longmont; and his brother J Craig and his wife Kathy of Aurora.A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday May 2, 2012 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, this service will include a time for friends to share their special memories of Jim. Following this service a reception will be at American Legion Post 32, 315 S. Bowen St, Longmont. Military Honors will take place 10am Thursday, May 3 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel by the US Army and American Legion Post 32 Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Vietnam Era Scholarship Foundation.
