

James R. Crispe, 77, of Longmont passed away August 1, 2016 at his home.He was born November 5, 1938 in Denver, CO to Edward and Mary (Holcapfel) Crispe. He moved with his family to Carr, CO when he was ten years old. Jim graduated from Carr High School and attended Colorado A&M (CSU) for one year.On June 4, 1959 he married Kathleen Bitters in Carr and they moved to Longmont in 1960.Jim spent thirty-three years working for Gates Rubber Co. in Denver, manufacturing auto parts. He retired in 1991. He continued working, first as a shuttle driver for Enterprise car rental at Denver Airport, then as a propane driver for Northern Energy (driving many steep/winding mountain roads-both winter and summer), and lastly as a security officer at Amgen until his complete retirement just four years ago. Jim was a long time member of the Longmont Jaycees. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He even took lessons and learned to tie his own flies for fly fishing! There was also a time in his life that he really enjoyed cooking, and was a very good chef. You could always count on him to have a joke, or a funny story. He had a knack to remember any new ones that he heard.He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Austin.Jim is survived by his wife Kathleen, four children Jay Crispe (Lee) of Longmont, Debbie Kimble (Low) of Frederick, Lori Adler (Jeff) of Loveland and Eddie Crispe (Terri) of Platteville, brother Ron Crispe (Nancy) of Longmont, sister Barb Bear (Dave) of Lakewood, seven grandchildren Travis Crispe (Kyla), Amanda Norman (Josh), Cody Crispe, Wyatt Crispe, Cassidy Crispe, Aaron Achziger and Rachel Achziger, six great grandchildren Blakely, Tripp, Beaux, Jocelyn, Ainsley and Allee Jo and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either National Down Syndrome Society or American SIDS Institute c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.Memorial service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
