Jim passed away January 15, 2024 after a long struggle to come back to us. The previous May he suffered a serious head injury from a fall. He was a construction superintendent for several construction companies in the Denver area. During his career, he worked on the second bore of the Eisenhower Tunnel, bridges in Glenwood Canyon, highway paving, DIA, the new Bronco Stadium, the South Platt River Environmental Restoration Project and other projects too numerous to mention. His work sent him to Wyoming, New Mexico and projects on the western slope. He always said “the plans are just a suggestion” and he made the project work to the satisfaction of all concerned.
He served in the Navy at the beginning of the Vietnam War and was honored for helping to save a fellow sailor who fell overboard. He always proudly wore his Navy ball caps.
Jim was unique in many ways. He would be willing to hold a crying baby, make kids of any age laugh and he was a good friend a neighbor. He was a good father, grandfather, brother, uncle and according to his wife of 48 years, living with Jim was always an adventure. He loved to laugh, tease, travel, work, camp, hunt and fish. He never wasted a day.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and his beloved daughter Julie Levernier.
