

James Tash Westervelt, Jr., 73, of Firestone passed away July 6, 2017 at his home.He was born November 11, 1943 in Blackfoot, Idaho to James Tash, Sr. and Frances (Ogborn) Westervelt.James served in the United States Navy from November 15, 1960 to January 30, 1962 and was Honorably discharged.On July 8, 1966 he married Carolyn Sue Lauderdale in Wichita, Kansas. In 1971 they moved to a farm west of Longmont on the I-25 Frontage road south of Colo. 119.James was a welder and a machinist. He owned and operated Westervelt Enterprises, Inc. from 1975 to 1997. The shop was located on the I-25 frontage road. In addition to the machine shop, James was a farmer, both on land he owned and other farmland in the area.In 1997 he moved to Montrose, Colorado. He had just in the last year returned to live in Firestone.James enjoyed hunting and fishing. Earlier in life he held a pilot's license and flew himself to various places.He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.James is survived by his wife Carolyn Sue, son James T. Westervelt, III and wife Kristin, daughter Kareena Westervelt, six grandchildren Wesley, Madisyn, Morgan, Alexandra, Ayden and Landon, sister Karen Turner.At James' request no memorial service will be held.
