Jeanie Rose Bergmann

BERGMANN, Jeanie R , age 90, of Longmont, CO passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She was born on June 3, 1935 in Unionville, MO to Walter and Pansy Alene (Burgess) Freeborn. She grew up on a farm in Southern IA, moving to Des Moines, IA with the family in 1950, She graduated from North High School in Des Moines, IA in 1952.

She married Ernest (Ernie) Bergmann on October 2, 1955 in Fort Collins, CO. They moved to Longmont, CO from Estes Park, CO in 1958.

She was co-owner of Ernie’s Carpet and Floor Covering until 1995, then was an Account Specialist at Premier Members Credit Union for 10 years retiring in 2005.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Longmont, CO for over 60 years. She served on several committees but preferred to work quietly behind the scenes. She was a member of First Lutheran Women, the Women of the Moose and American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed baking (cinnamon rolls, banana or zucchini bread, rhubarb crisp or cookies). She loved gardening, traveling, reading, fishing and camping.

Her favorite foods were chocolate and watermelon!

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994, her father and mother (Walter and Alene Freeborn of Longmont, CO), her brother and sister-in-law (Jack and Gayl Freeborn of Littleton, CO) and all immediate family members of Ernie Bergmann .

She is survived by her daughter Wanda (Gary) Becatti of Huntsville, AL, her daughter Traba (Randy) Ferdig of Longmont, CO and her son Michael (Deb) Bergmann of Lawrence, NE.

She is survived by her grandchildren Kristin Becatti, Kevin (Molly) Becatti; Aaron (Katelyn) Ferdig, Linnae (Sean) Sawyer, Ryan (Hazel) Bergmann, Heidi Bergmann, and Craig Bergmann.

She is survived by her 10 great grandchildren Braxton, Dalton, Madilyn and Zaelyn Ferdig, Bailey, Leah, Maverick and Cassidy Sawyer, Alyssa and Brinley Woltz.

In lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made to First Lutheran Church, Longmont, CO, Carbon Valley Church of Christ, Frederick, CO, Meals on Wheels or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful neighbors, friends and family that helped our mother over the years. This allowed her to stay in her home which meant the world to her.

Visitation for Jeanie will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, 439 Coffman St, Longmont, Colorado. A Funeral Service will occur Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Howe Mortuary & Crematory. Graveside Committal will occur Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Foothills Gardens of Memory, 14241 N 107th St, Longmont, Colorado. A reception will follow the graveside at Jeanie's residence 1877 Queens Drive, Longmont, Colorado.
