

John was born Dec. 9, 1936, on the family farm near Culbertson, NE, to John Jurgen and Etta (Meints) Frecks. He grew up in the Lutheran faith and began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ after he began dating his wife, Karen Hayward. He remained faithful to his Lord throughout his lifetime witnessing to anyone who would listen to him about the salvation that Jesus Christ offers through His death on the cross of Calvary.
On June 2, 1957, John married Karen Joy Hayward at Messiah Lutheran Church in Culbertson, NE. To this union 3 children were born, Catherine, Laura and Lisa. John and Karen made their home in McCook and in 1960 they moved their family to Longmont, CO, where their third child Lisa was born.
John graduated from Culbertson High School and worked for McCook Public Power as a lineman. After moving to Longmont CO, John worked for the City of Longmont electric utility, also as a lineman. John had built several of the family homes and went on to work for IBM in Boulder CO as an electrician where he eventually retired. John enjoyed the many friendships he made over the years as a member of Allenspark Community Church, the Tumbleweeds camping club and neighborhood get togethers.
John was preceded in death by his wife Karen, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
John is survived by his fiancé Judy, 3 daughters and sons-in-law, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and cousins, nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St. in Longmont, Colorado on Thursday April 9th with a service at 11am and visitation just prior to the service at 10am. There will be a reception following the service at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
A private family service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Allenspark Community Church or Dignity Hospice of Colorado, and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel 326 Terry St. Longmont, CO 80501.
