John Noble Harris, 76, of Longmont, Colorado has told his last story and left us with many to remember him by. After a brave and valiant three-year struggle with compromised health he passed away peacefully on December 15, 2022.
John was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 19, 1946 and grew up in Alton, Illinois. He graduated from Alton High School, attended the University of Denver and graduated from Southern Illinois University. The first half of his 50-year career in finance John was a stock broker operating as a broker and principal; he eventually managed several brokerage firms in Denver and Boulder, and transitioned into mergers and acquisitions. During the last half of his career he was President and CEO of three public companies.
He lived in the mountains of Boulder County for over 40 years until illness forced him to move to a lower elevation. John enjoyed all things water: swimming competitively in high school, cheering on his beloved daughters at their swimming meets and relishing his 3-year-old granddaughter's prowess in the pool; kayaking on Colorado lakes and rivers; and river rafting. He was known for his BBQ and sharing his mouth-watering ribs at CU Football tailgates. John never left a venue or event without making a new acquaintance or friend.
He is survived by Cindy Spoerl his former wife and longtime friend and caregiver. They have two daughters, Allison Noble Aslin (Hunter) of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Samantha Briar Harris of Longmont, Colorado; and a granddaughter Cameron Noble Aslin. John was preceded in death by his first wife Pamela in 1975 and by his parents June N. (1993) and John B. (1994) Harris. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 31, 2023, at The Greenbriar Inn. Contributions can be made to Old Dogs New Digs at www.olddogsnewdigs.com or Boulder/Longmont Humane Societies.
