

John Allan Schriver of Longmont, passed away at Boulder Community Hospital on Monday, March 23, 2015. He was 76. Mr. Schriver was born on July 11, 1938 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Aloysius and Isabelle (Adrian) Schriver who preceded him in death.
John grew up in St. Cloud until 1959 when he joined the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. In 1966 he married Cheryl Ann McFall and moved to Oklahoma. John and Cheryl lived in Oklahoma for five years before returning to Colorado in 1971. John worked as a mortgage broker for many years after which, he went to work for Gerard’s Bakery in Longmont for 20 years before retiring. During his retirement, he volunteered wherever his services were needed in the Longmont community. He was a member of the American Legion and was a very proud member of the Honor Guard and took great pride in making sure every veteran received full military honors. In addition to his volunteer work, John also went to work for Batteries Plus. John was a huge American patriot and was a man who never met a stranger. Everywhere he went he knew lots of people or easily made new friends. A man of gratitude, he continually acknowledged and thanked people for what they do. He was also known for passing out taffy to anyone who would take it.
John is survived by his daughters, Marie McClinchy and Tamara (Mike) McMillan; grandchildren, Katherine, Thomas and Sean McClinchy, Katina, Alexis and Tate McMillan; sister, Karol Bormes Parsons and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Schriver.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10am, Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont, CO followed by a 1pm, Graveside Inurnment service at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Both services will be with Military Honors.
