
Johnny Ray Peterson, of Longmont, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Easter Sunday, April 1st. He was 64.He was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 3rd, 1953 to Johnny Olsen and Amanda Lou (Mosley) Peterson as the eldest of their three sons. The family moved from there to Espanola, New Mexico, where Johnny graduated from Espanola High School in 1971. He moved to Longmont, Colorado in the mid-1970s, where he met Kathy Elaine Thyfault. They were married on May 6, 1978 and had two sons together. They were divorced in 1996. Johnny spent much of his working life as a small-business owner and a skilled residential and commercial electrician. After retiring from that trade he owned and operated JP3 Restoration for a number of years. When his sons were growing up he was very involved with coaching their athletic teams, and he himself enjoyed playing competitive softball on a number of local teams. He was an active and longtime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He loved playing pool, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his grandkids. Johnny was very involved in his apartment community's art programs and BBQs, and often led their Bible study group.Johnny Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, and his brother Carl. He is survived by sons Jon Paul (Anna) and Jeremy (Robyn), daughter Nicole, nine grandchildren, and his brother Jim.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation has been entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
