Jordan Muhs is finally free. She passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. While she had moved to the Longmont area in 2005, she was an international woman with strong intelligence and unfailing compassion. She spent two high school years with her family in Singapore; while still in high school she spent a summer in Costa Rica perfecting her Spanish language skills. She graduated George Washington University (Washington D.C.) with a baccalaureate degree in International Affairs, which included three months in Bolivia gathering information on maternal health for indigenous women. Her bilingual skills and interest in maternal health led her to a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer where she served as a bilingual doula, with a clinic in Aurora, Colorado. She studied for a Masters Degree medical anthropology at University of Colorado in Denver. Most recently, she worked as a legal assistant at two different immigration law firms. She is survived by her mother, Nancy J. Muhs and sister, Madison, of Longmont; her brothers, Jason of Akron, Ohio and Kyle of Los Angeles, California; her father, Joseph Muhs of Des Moines, Iowa; her second father and friend, David Larson; her boyfriend, Brian Jarvis; numerous, loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and especially Tia Maria; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Stoneburg (90 years old) of Silvis, Illinois; and last by not least by her beloved baby, Buddy. A visitation will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry, Longmont, Colorado on Saturday, March 31, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
