Joseph Francis Timko

Joseph Francis Timko, 69, of Longmont, entered into rest on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Longmont United Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was born May 26, 1940 in Hazelton, PA. Following his graduation from Lane Tech High School in Chicago, IL he began a career as an electrical engineer. Joseph was a two-time national champion drag racer in 1963 and 1964 at U.S. 30 drag strip in Valparaiso, IN. He met Judith (Ptack) in March of 1963 and they were married August 10, 1963 in Chicago, IL. Joseph moved his family to Longmont in October of 1974 after visiting and falling in love with Colorado. He immediately began work at Longmont Foods as an electrician. Joseph also drove for the Airporter and really loved meeting people.Preceding Joseph in death were his father Joseph Francis Timko and daughter Catherine Timko, and two brothers Donald and Edward Timko.He is survived by his wife Judith Timko, Longmont, CO, son Joe Timko III and his wife Janet, LaSalle, CO, 2 daughters; Carole Law and her husband John, Longmont, CO, Denae Timko, Longmont, CO and his mother Elsie (Kiper) Timko, Chicago, IL. He is further survived by two brothers Robert Timko, Longmont, CO and Andrew Timko, Chicago, IL, three sisters; Rosemary Gore and husband Steve, Chicago. IL, Linda Zalantis and husband Paul, Mt. Dora FL, and Colleen Salzinger, Chicago, IL and 7 grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Howe Mortuary, Longmont, CO.
