Joyce Martinez

Joyce was born on December 8, 1958 to Roquez and Gloria Martinez in Denver, Colorado. After graduating from Alameda High School in Lakewood, Joyce attended college at Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado.

While married in her thirties, Joyce had a daughter, Regina Martinez-Stransky, in January 1990. Together with Regina, Joyce embraced her love of different regions and had homes in Boulder, Colorado; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Tucson, Arizona; and most recently, Portland, Oregon. At the time of her passing, she had been temporarily living in Longmont, Colorado following the October 2016 passing of her father.

Joyce was loving, kind, generous, and a devoted mother. She enjoyed watching her daughter excel in both the arts and athletics as she grew up. Joyce loved cooking and enjoyed a nice glass of wine! She was very devoted to her family and enjoyed any opportunities to be with her family.

In addition to her daughter Regina, Joyce is survived by her mother Gloria, brother Gerald (Margaret), brother Robert (Arlene) and sister Janice. She is also survived by nephew Christopher (Morgan), niece Jocelyn (Cameron), nephew Marcus and nephew Garrett. She is also survived by 2 great-nephews and 2 great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her father Roquez in October 2016.

A Rosary service will be held 6pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street in Longmont. A Memorial Mass will take place 10am, Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 3791 Pike Road, also in Longmont.
