Joyce Marie Sowl

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Marie Sowl, aged 88, on June 20, 2025. Joyce was born on October 3, 1936, in Baker, Montana, where she spent her childhood years before beginning her life’s journey.

Joyce was married to Dee Sowl, and together they raised three children: John, Scott, and James. She was a loving mother, devoted wife, and cherished sister to Orville, Ray, Cathy, and Jerry. She adored her only grandson Trevor and daughter-in-law Annette. Throughout her life, Joyce’s love for her family was a constant source of joy and strength.

As a compassionate and skilled nurse, Joyce dedicated her life to caring for others, bringing comfort and healing to many lives.

Outside of her work, Joyce had a deep passion for gardening, filling her yard with beautiful blooms and thriving plants. She also found great joy in travel, exploring new places and experiencing the world with a sense of wonder and curiosity.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, care, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.

Joyce is survived by her children, John (Annette), Scott, and James; grandson Trevor; brothers, Ray Stevens, and Jerry (Sue) Stevens; sister, Cathy Nowak; sister-in-law Mary Stevens; many nieces, nephews and grand dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Julianna Stevens; her husband, Dee Sowl; brother, Orville Stevens; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Stevens; and brother-in-law, Steve Nowak.

A Catholic Memorial Service for Joyce will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, a reception will follow the service.
