Julie Ellis

Juliana “Julie” Ellis, 91, of Longmont, died December 28, 2016 at Longmont United Hospital. She was born August 14, 1925 in Dante, Virginia to Joseph Kluyber and Mary (Tomko) Kluyber and raised on a farm in York , PA . She married William G. Ellis in New York on October 29, 1948 in Floral Park , Long Island . They made their home in Long Island, NY until 1976, when they moved to Longmont, CO.

Julie experienced many jobs throughout her life. She began her working career at a canning factory, worked for a defense company during World War II, was a covergirl for TWA , a department manager at Food Fair in New York , a clerk at Montgomery Wards in Boulder and ended her working years landscaping and taking care of others.

She was a member of the Rose Society, the Hoe and Hope garden club and the Red Hat Society. She loved gardening and cooking and was amazing at both .

Julie is survived by her daughter Valeri (Ron) Vejrostek of Longmont and her sister Irene McGee of Baltimore, MD. She is further survived by her grandchildren Brianna (Jerrod) Marshall, Jason (Nacole) and Jared (Holly) Vejrostek and great grandchildren Makayla, Terryn, Alli, Kiersten, Chloe, Jayden and Kyla.

Preceding her in death are her brothers Joe and Frank Kluyber and her sisters Clara Pepper, Mary Christian and Helen Kluyber.

Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. The family has asked that , in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Colorado Friendship , here in Longmont .
