Karen was born on January 7, 1954 in Longmont, to Danny Hancock and Marian Dier Hancock.
She graduated from Longmont High School in 1972. Karen worked for many years as a cook at the A&W Drive In. Following that she worked for a number of wire assembly positions, including Trend Manufacturing, Sherwood Enterprises and Ball Engineering.
While Karen didn’t have children, she was a most involved and exceptional aunt. She adored her nieces and nephews and was big part of their lives. On February 27, 1997 she married Kent Smith in Longmont.
Preceding her in death are her mother and sisters Rhonda Calhoun and Jody Carl.
Surviving are her husband of Johnstown; father and step mother Danny (Doris) Hancock of Laramie, Wyoming; sister Pam (Brian) Kloster of Madison, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, April 4 at Carroll Lewellen Funeral Chapel.
