

He was born on April 9, 1935 in Lake City, MN as one of 12 children raised on the family farm. He was educated in a one room schoolhouse and spent a happy childhood helping on the farm with free time spent hunting, sledding, and raising hell with his brothers.
After leaving school, he went to work at the local creamery and then moved on to IBM where he spent a long career as a tool and model maker.
Leonard met his lifelong love, Marlene, on a blind date, they danced and laughed their way to marriage on May 16, 1959 and spent 61 years together.
Leonard and Marlene lived in Lake City, MN and Rochester, MN before IBM moved them to Colorado in 1965. They build a home on 5 acres north of Longmont where they spent the rest of their lives and raised 2 daughters: Michelle and Jean.
Being back in the country allowed Leonard to resume farming which he loved and continued doing until he was in his early 80's. In addition to farming, Leonard loved to go fishing, bowling, and, in his younger years, skiing-- a love the he passed on to his daughters and grandson.
In his later years, he and Marlene traveled in their fifth wheel trailer when his farming schedule would allow.
Leonard was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He is survived by his children; Michelle Dose of Abilene, TX and Jean (Wayne) Scott of Longmont, Colorado and grandchildren John Scott and Chris Scott both of Longmont. He is also survived by his brother Charles (Joyce) Dose of Pine Island, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Marlene (Hillger); his brothers Dwain (Dorothy) Dose, Henry (Irma) Dose, Fritz (Marilyn) Dose, George (Mildred) Dose, Jess (Marlys) Dose, James (Gertrude) Dose, and Lee Dose; his sisters Marjorie (Willard) Holst, Janet (Armond) Yotter, and Jean (Leland) Turner; and his parents George Dose and Alice (Gerken) Dose.
