Lorna was born on April 1, 1979, in Marilou, Bulacan, the second of four children to Carlito and Zenaida Benbinuto. Her early years were spent alongside her siblings-Fernan, Ricky, and Annalisa- in a lively home on a bustling street. Following her graduation from Lolomboy High School in 1996, she established her early career in the Philippines. However, her adventurous spirit soon led her to seek opportunities abroad, beginning with a move to South Korea.
It was in Geoje, South Korea, that Lorna met Jonathan M. Hall. They were introduced one quiet evening at the hotel restaurant where she worked and he was staying. Their bond deepened over several months, and as Lorna prepared to return to the Philippines at the end of her contract, they realized this was only the start of a much larger journey together.
Jonathan and Lorna moved into an apartment together in Pasig City, outside Manila. They spent a wonderful year there together, exploring the mountains and beaches of her home country. Against that backdrop Jonathan proposed; the couple subsequently traveled to the U.S., where they were wed on August 10, 2011, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. They spent their first few years establishing roots in the U.S. before ultimately making their home in Berthoud, Colorado in 2013.
On March 12, 2015, Jonathan Finley Benbinuto Hall joined the family. Fin’s arrival marked another new chapter for Lorna, who poured her heart into motherhood. Following seven years in town, they moved to a more spacious setting in 2020, allowing the family’s life to grow and blossom.
Their collective journey and shared experiences became the very foundation of their home-a sanctuary filled with Fin’s laughter and boundless love. Whether through quiet moments or joyful gatherings, the house was a constant stage for something wonderful, serving as the backdrop for countless cherished memories.
As a mother, Lorna was truly exceptional; her life centered on ensuring Finley’s health and happiness. The two were inseparable, sharing a bond that was visible to all. A naturally private person, Lorna never sought the spotlight; instead, she found her greatest fulfillment in life’s simple, meaningful moments and the quiet joy of her family.
When not travelling and exploring the great parks of the West, relaxing on the sunny southern shores of the treasure coast, or wayfaring in her native lands of the Philippines, she loved to spend time peacefully at home. Lorna loved cooking and baking but also gardening and crafts. She was especially gifted at beading, sewing, and knitting.
To Lorna, family was her world. Lorna, Jon and Finley were always together, enjoying the pleasure of each other’s company whenever and wherever they found themselves. Their journey covered many continents and time zones. She and Jonathan spent a beautiful 15 years together, 10 of them with their young son, Finley, who was her shining star.
While Lorna’s journey has come to an end, her memories and adventures will be carried in the hearts and minds of those she leaves behind. Fair Winds and following seas my love.
