

Lowell V. ˜Bink' Young, 97, formerly of Longmont passed away May 2, 2015 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.He was born September 5, 1917 in Wellington, Colorado to Lowell V., Sr .and Rose (Harnish) Young. Bink as he was known moved with his family to Longmont in 1929, where he graduated from Longmont High School.Bink was a veteran of the United States Army from Dec. 5, 1944 to May 9, 1946. He saw duty in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations, including the liberation of the Philippines and the occupation of Japan and was Honorably Discharged. He married Dora Williams on March 26, 1938 in Longmont; she preceded him in death in 1985. On October 5, 1986 he married Donna (Lowe) Blackstone. She has also preceded him in death in 1997.Bink moved to Monterey, California in 1947 and worked as a clerk for the United States Post Office. He transferred to Arizona in 1970, retiring in 1972. He then worked for the Arizona State Legislature until 1979. He returned to Longmont at that time. He moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 2013 to be near his daughter and family.He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Longmont Elks Lodge #1055, and the Longmont Golf Club (also known as the Sunset Men's Club). Bink had a passion for golf, playing as often as he could. He enjoyed the Saturday morning Men's club outings and was very proud to have been the winner of the Octogenarian Open for seven years from 2002 through 2008.He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, brother John Young, two sisters Thelma Chandler and Marilyn Davis and his son William Lowell Young in 1991.Bink is survived by his daughter Sharolyn Morris of Mountain Home, Arkansas, six grandchildren Cindy Thomas (Kevin), Carter Iverson (Judi), Jason Morris (Michelle) Aaron Morris (Ashley), Rod Young and Ryan Young (Teresa Magart), ten great-grandchildren Jennifer Mitchell (Denver), Dejah Iverson, Amber Iverson, Jacob Morris, Zachary Morris, Brady Morris, Taylor Morris, Maleigha Morris, Rylee Morris and Skylar Young, and two great great-grandchildren Cooper and Cassidy Mitchell.Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Visitation will begin one hour before the funeral service at 1pm on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Longmont Meals on Wheels.
