
Marcia Jo Shields Zinn Smith passed away February 10, 2012 in Surprise, AZ. She was 91.She was born February 2, 1921 in Dennison, OH to Wendell H. and Bessie L. (Armstrong) Shields. Marcia grew up in Ohio and attended many family reunions, spending summers with her grandparents and enjoyed firecrackers, lady fingers, sparklers, and roman candles during 4th of July celebrations. She also spent summer days fishing on the Buckeye Lake with her family.She graduated from Newark high School in 1938. She married James K. Zinn Sr. on June 5, 1940 in Newark, OH, they later divorced. She married Curtis C. Smith on March 9, 1957 in Wichita, KS, together they moved to Longmont, CO in 1974 from Bakersfield, CA where she lived briefly, he preceded her in death in 1986. She spent the majority of her adult life in the western United States including Orange County, CA, Butte County, CA, Maricopa County, AZ including Surprise, AZ the location she was living upon her death.While living in Oroville, CA she married Allen Jones on November 1995.Marica worked as an electronics assembler until her retirement in 1974. She attended the Radiant Church in Surprise, AZ, and was especially proud of raising her ten children, and being with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, watching the Arizona Diamondbacks and Denver Broncos ball games, and reading her bible.Marcia was preceded in death by her husband Allen Jones; her daughter Ellen L. Roquefort; her parents; her sister Wilma Dale Pratt; one grandson James K. Zinn III; and one great-grandchild McQuade Zinn.She is survived by her special lifelong friend Robert Evans; her sons James K. Zinn, Jr. (Monika), Keith Edwin Zinn (Laura), Elmer Clayton Smith, Mac Morris Smith (Anita), and Jack Lee Smith (Debra); her daughters Konnie Jo Rood, Catherine Ann Smith (Ralph), Mary Theresa Mansell (Michael), Rinda Luella Torres (David); her stepmother Rebecca Shields; her brothers John and George Shields; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces Bobbi Jo Holmes, Sharon Wiggs, Carol Worsdell, and Jo-Anne Shields; and her nephew Eric Shields.Visitation will be 10-11 AM Monday February 27, 2012 with a Funeral Service following at 11 AM all at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Radiant Church “ Childrens Building Fund, 15522 w. Paradise Ln., Surprise, AZ 85374.
