With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Mardelle Irene Danielson (nee Sele) on October 28, 2024, in Longmont, Colorado. She was born on February 11, 1943, at Kittson Memorial Hospital in Hallock, Minnesota, to Ralph and Lillian (Nee Leen) Sele.
Mardelle graduated from Lake Bronson High School, where she met the love of her life, Curtis Rodney Danielson. On June 30, 1961, Curt and Dell tied the knot and began their journey of 63 years of marriage. They shared a beautiful life raising their children, Rodney Lee and Kim Irene, with love and devotion.
In 1980, the family left Minnesota for Longmont, Colorado. Dell had many jobs throughout the years, working for Sears, Safeway, and, for a short time, Western Sizzlin, where she got to work with Rod. She and Curt ultimately moved to Platteville, Colorado, where she became a cherished community member and a devoted grandmother who treasured her time with her grandchildren.
A faithful Lutheran, Mardelle found joy in simple pleasures—reading, coloring, camping, and cheering on the Denver Broncos. She often spoke fondly when remembering significant moments, including her wedding day, bringing her children home, and Curtis’s return from leave.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis; her children, Kim and her husband, Ken Wright, Rod and his wife Susan Danielson; her grandchildren, Matt Calvert, Zach Wright, Greta Danielson, and Bridget Danielson; her beloved great-grandchild Billy; and extended family. Mardelle is predeceased by her grandson, Lee Robert Calvert, whose untimely passing left a deep wound in her maternal heart. Mardelle was happiest at home and often described it as her favorite place, filled with dream catchers, angels, and dozens of family photos capturing her loved ones throughout the years.
Mardelle’s kindness, warmth, generosity, and love for her family will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A service to celebrate Mardelle’s life is intended, and details will be updated here when they are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
