Margaret Ann was born on October 22, 1945 in Nevada, Missouri to parents Eldon and Helen (Dirks) Sheridan. She completed her elementary education at Hackberry and Deerfield Schools and was a proud graduate of Nevada High School Class of 1962. She relished recounting stories of her youth growing up on a farm with her loving parents and three brothers Jim, Larry and Ed. Following her graduation, Margaret worked briefly at a local Nevada bank prior to marrying her high school sweetheart Terry Lee Johnson on August 19,1962 at Moundville, Missouri Christian Church. The newlyweds ventured to Rolla, Missouri where Terry completed his college degree; they later moved to Wichita, Kansas and finally to the Firestone/Longmont Colorado area in 1991. Margaret was a homemaker and the proud mother of three children: Anna Marie Johnson Lewman, Bradley and Bryan Johnson. Additionally, Margaret was an affectionate grandmother to Braden and Izak Johnson. She enjoyed sewing and decorative needlework. She and Terry were very active in their church community and Margaret especially enjoyed her years teaching children’s Sunday school. In her later years, her passion was attending and leading Ladies Bible Study. Margaret enjoyed researching family genealogy and maintaining the family history tree and was an enthusiastic participant of many Sheridan “Cousin Reunions”! Margaret Ann will be remembered and missed for her pioneer “I can do it” spirit, her bubbling optimism, and especially her infectious giggle. We will miss every conversation reminding her of a hymn wherein she would spontaneously break into song! Margaret will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 63 years Terry; two brothers, Jim (Barbara) Sheridan and Larry (Anne) Sheridan; her daughter Anna Marie (Johnson) Lewman, her son Bradley and wife Samantha and their sons Braden and Izak as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by her parents Eldon and Helen Sheridan, a brother Edward Sheridan, a son Bryan Johnson and son-in-law Tony Lewman.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 2 PM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont. Funeral services will be held at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Missouri on Saturday May 23, 2026 with visitation at noon, the funeral at 1pm and burial to follow at the Johnson family cemetery, Welborn Cemetery, Moundville, Missouri.
The family would like to thank their Frederick church community and especially Lynn and Wayne Peterson for their many loving kindnesses during Margaret’s (and Terry’s) health challenges. They have all been the living embodiment of “And now abidaeth faith, hope, love - these three, but the greatest of these is love”.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Carbon Valley Church of Christ, 600 Fifth St, Frederick, CO 80530.
