

Mrs. Mills was employed in the secure telecom department at Rocky Flats from June 1981 until her retirement in June 1995. Prior to that she, along with her husband, owned and operated Mills Self Service Laundry and Cleaners from 1961 to 1978.
She was an avid gardener and could often be seen working on various projects around her home. She enjoyed cooking, canning and most of all spending time with her family.
Born on Sept. 23, 1931, in Ramsey, IL, she was the daughter of Jesse Welch and Carmen Adams. She married Elvin “Shorty” Mills on August 19, 1950 in Piggott, Ark. They moved to Longmont in 1961 from St. Elmo, IL.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Ronald and Kevin, and two brothers, Robert and John.
She leaves behind her daughter, Melody Mills and grandson, Benjamin Mills of Longmont; three sisters, Bessie O’Dell of Greeley, CO, Ann Welch of Bloomington, IL, and Donna Hames of Vandalia, IL; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life Open House will held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Howe Mortuary Event Room, 439 Coffman St, Longmont. Memorial services and inurnment will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 in St. Elmo, Illinois.
