Marie began her life journey in a little town on the California coast side called El Granada in 1936 and as a youngster enjoyed the nearby ocean at "Princeton by the sea" as it was referred to. As a teenager she worked with he mother in the straw flower industry that peaked her interest in decorating, a skill that Marie developed and used in many of her involvements.
In 1952, Marie began high school in a neighboring town called Half Moon Bay, a short bus ride from her home. In high school, Marie was active in most sports but she was interested in homemaking and oil painting. 50 years later Marie was active in oil painting, participated in judged shows where she did well, sold many fine oil paintings and a few water colors. In the seventies once a week there was a group of budding artists in our game room doing oil painting and Marie made life long friends pursuing favorite hobby.
Half Moon Bay high school is where Marie met Jerry Cook and 5 years later they married and were together for the next 65 years until her passing.
Marie had many other interests and each spring our yard looked like a flower basket and traditionally she had flower baskets hanging in the yard as well as patio areas. Her decorating skills were put to work in several thrift shops where she volunteered over the years and were skillfully done for customer attraction.
Marie loved her family, two Children, Brian & Colleen four Grand Children,
Joseph, Casey, Branden and Sarah and four great Grand Children, Jocelyn Tanner, Briete, abd Brook,youngest being 2 years and the oldest will be 21 in November and the house was full of their pictures.
Marie's journey took her from her and Jerry's first home in Pedro Valley Linda
Mar, Ca to Half Moon Bay, Los Gatos, Ca and in 1971 Marie and Jerry Moved to Gaynor Lake, Co. In 1990 they moved to their current residence in Berthoud Co which became their favorite home and place to be. Each of us has a unique personality and Marie's was special and she will remain in our hearts forever.
