Our beloved Marlene Anne Cramer passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 16th, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born in Exeter, England in 1941 and arrived in the United States on The Queen Mary when she was eight years old with her baby sister Sandra.
Marlene first lived in Pennsylvania and then made her way to Winslow, Arizona shortly after. In 1964, Marlene eventually settled in Longmont, Colorado. Marlene and Gordon's love story began when they met at the local grocery store. Gordon and Marlene married two years later on December 20th, 1982. They made a beautiful life together raising children and creating endless memories.
Marlene opened the Bridal Connection in 1981 and owned it for fifteen years alongside her daughter. She loved seeing the glow from the future brides when she helped them find the perfect dress. However, she later discovered her love for teaching preschool at Burlington Elementary and was a strong advocate for special needs children.
Marlene had a passion for interior design and loved changing her home décor each season. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and various events, including coaching festivities for her husband, baby and bridal showers, a baptism, and even held a wedding in their home. Marlene loved her family fiercely and provided unwavering support throughout the years.
Marlene is preceded in death by Francis Herman (1980), Nora Greenaway (1998), Charles Greenaway (2001), Evan Pilkington (2012) and Michelle Pilkington (2016). Marlene is survived by her sister, Sandra Dobbins of Lakemore, Ohio and by her loving husband, Gordon Cramer of 40 years. She is also survived by her children, daughter Tammy (Leo) Pilkington of Cedaredge, CO, son John (Jamie) Herman of Pinewood Springs, CO, son Steve (Lori) Herman of Lyons, CO, and stepdaughter Marisa (Roger- deceased) Holmes of Arvada, CO. Marlene will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Bowe (Sarah) Herman, Shaeli (Kellen) Froese, Bayly (Jason) Babyak, Chase Doughty, Deanna (Mike) Alexy, Jake Holmes, Sarah Holmes, and her four great-grandchildren. With gratitude, we want to thank all of the hospice TRU Community Care staff for the diligent care and support you gave to our wife, mother, and Nana.
A celebration of life for Marlene will be held Monday, August 7th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont CO, 80501.
