Marta was the middle daughter of Dr. Martin G. VanDerSchouw and Lucy VanDerSchouw. She grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado with her older sister Mickey Berry of Greenwood Village, Colorado (deceased) and Marilyn Huber of Berthoud, Colorado. She graduated from Fort Collins High School and attended Colorado State University.
Marta led a life defined by love of family, friends, hardship, and hard work, raising two children. To her grandchildren she was known as Granny Goose. Marta loved baking with her grandchildren, especially during the holidays, and was famous for her cherry bombs. She also enjoyed watching football and basketball along with cooking shows on TV. Marta was a mom above everything else. As a struggling single parent, she always found a way to provide for her children and get them to every practice and event all the way through their college educations and raising families of their own. She was a scout leader, coach, party planner, driver, cook, cheerleader, organizer, daycare provider, friend and every other job imaginable.
Professionally, Marta spent five decades in international logistics moving everything from Chinese bears to nuclear devices. In the 1980s she became close to a group of coworkers while working at MiniScribe in Longmont which became known as the Bridge Club. Marta loved participating in the annual Bridge Club camping trip and weekly get-togethers. Marta was close to both her sisters throughout her life, and was able to travel with her younger sister Marilyn after retirement.
Marta is survived by her younger sister Marilyn Huber, two children, son Martin VanDerSchouw, daughter Jennifer Dolloff, Son-In-Law Doug Dolloff, Daughter-in-Law Amy VanDerSchouw, and four grandchildren Kyle Dolloff, Adam Dolloff, Lauren VanDerSchouw, and Jacob VanDerSchouw. She will be greatly missed by all.
