

Mary Josephine Loomis of Longmont, Colorado, died May 6, 2008 at Applewood Living Center in Longmont. She was 94.Mary was born October 30, 1913, in Boulder, CO, to Hilliard S. and Sadie Jane (Carter) Andrew. Mary grew up on the family farm where the Andrew Homestead was located in North Boulder in the area of Folsom and Iris. Mary married Oren Howard Loomis, Jr. The family was involved in raising corn and wheat crops and the poultry business. Mary then went to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Terrace Heights in Boulder for 17 years.Mary was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Boulder, active in the PTA when her sons were growing up, a member of the Pleasant View Grange, and involved with sewing and bridge clubs. She was a loving mother who saw to the needs of her family and was always there to help when needed and provided love and guidance.Mrs. Loomis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Joe Andrew and a sister, Betty Jarvis.She is survived by two sons, Howard ""Pug"" Loomis and his wife, Barbara, of Lafayette, CO, and William Loomis and his wife, Barbara, of Longmont; a sister, Janet Johnson and her husband, Robert, of Boulder; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder with Reverend William Youngblood, retired minister from Bethel United Methodist Church officiating.Memorials may be given to Applewood Living Center, 1800 Stroh Place, Longmont, CO 80501.Please share thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.howemortuary.com
