Born on September 13, 2004, in Boulder, Colorado, Millie was the daughter of Nathen Garcia and Samantha Meiring. She grew up in Firestone, Colorado with a deep sense of curiosity and a love for all people, qualities that defined her short life.
Millie graduated from Mead High School in 2022 and had begun classes at Front Range Community College. She worked at her neighborhood King Soopers where her friendliness and integrity earned her the praise of colleagues and customers alike. She planned to complete her studies in the future and become a teacher with a focus on history and social studies.
Millie's true joy in life came from her family and friends. She never met a person she didn’t like and could make a new friend almost instantly. She loved traveling to South Africa to spend time with family there. She was passionate about animals and absolutely adored cats.
Millie had an exemplary commitment to her community. She was always willing to volunteer to help where needed, including the Special Olympics program, making Easter baskets for seniors, making hats for premature babies, and helping at the Longmont Humane Society. Her generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and goodwill.
In her spare time, Millie loved playing video and board games, cosplay, listening to music, and musical theater, either as a performer or just singing along to her favorite showtunes. She enjoyed baking and cooking, for which she won awards in 4-H. She had a passion for history, geography, and politics, and encouraged her friends and acquaintances to get involved by voting. Her curiosity about the world around her was infectious, and she inspired those around her to never stop exploring and questioning.
Millie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering sense of integrity will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, Samantha Meiring and Nathen Garcia; her sister Bronwyn/Nyx; grandparents Ken Meiring, Joanne Berry (George), Nathen Garcia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will cherish her memory.
A celebration of Millie's life will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel on July 12, 2024, at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to GLSEN (glsen.org) or the Longmont Humane Society (longmonthumane.org).
Millie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends. May she rest in peace, knowing her short life touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. “Say their names and they will live forever.” Millicent Caterina Garcia Meiring.
