
Monty Jean Cope, 73, of Frederick CO, died peacefully on April 2, 2011 at the Louisville Hospice Care center.He was born June 21, 1937 to Wes and Avis Reichstein Cope in Minden, NE.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene Cope; his daughter Christine Canady, grandsons Steven and Michael Canady; daughter Jody M , husband Dale, granddaughter Justine M ; son Corey Cope and wife Marvina, all of Colorado; Mother, Avis Cope, brothers Marshall and Bob Cope of Minden, NE.He was preceded in death by his father, Wes Cope. The memorial service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont, CO (www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com) at 10:00 am. After getting married, he and Irene Canady ˜Candy' Cope lived in Nebraska, California and Washington before moving their family to Colorado.He proudly served in the United States Navy for 4 years and the Marine Air Reserve for 2 years.He was in the motorcycle industry for 30 years. He owned C&W Cycle Ranch in Kearney, NE for 18 years and worked for many years at Sun Enterprises as their Service Manager. After his retirement, he became a lifeguard and swim teacher at the Carbon Valley Rec Center. He participated in the Senior Olympics swimming competition in Greeley, CO.While he loved riding his motorcycle, he also enjoyed sharing stories about ˜his kids' he taught to swim at the rec center. He showed his love for kids by playing the Easter Bunny and Santa on several occasions and he created one of the scariest houses for Halloween every year. He enjoyed painting tractor seats and making walking canes, collecting guns and knives, and taking pictures (ready or not). He was a beloved husband and cherished father known for his loving spirit, generosity and sense of humor.He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene Cope; his daughter Christine Canady, grandsons Steven and Michael Canady, daughter Jody M , husband Dale, granddaughter Justine M ; son Corey Cope and wife Marvina, all of Colorado.
