

In 1950, the family moved to Argentina where she attended elementary school and then to Geneva, Switzerland where she attended high school at the International School of Geneva Switzerland.
Nancy graduated high school in June, 1966. She applied and was accepted into Pembroke College (now Brown University) where she received her BA. After graduating, Nancy moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a short time before moving to Boulder, Colorado where she received her master’s degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Colorado. She worked at the University for 33 years as a Systems Analyst until her retirement in 2006.
On April 30, 1977, Nancy married Frank Martin on Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder, Colorado. They shared a home in Broomfield, Boulder, and Longmont until her death, and raised one daughter together, Erica Martin.
Both before and after her retirement, Nancy was an avid and active volunteer for a variety of organizations including WRV, Boulder County Parks and Open Space, and OUR Center. She was also active in her church, the First Congregational Church in Boulder, where she sang in the choir for many years. Nancy was passionate about the outdoors and helping her community. She was an accomplished cook and wouldn't hesitate to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty, no matter the task.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Frank Martin of Longmont, CO, daughter Erica Martin of Denver, CO, brother Barry Douglass of Alexandria, VA, sister Amy Douglass of Chandler, AZ, brother Kevin Douglass of Houston, TX, sister Elizabeth Alcocer of Austin, TX. She is further survived by four nieces and two nephews.
