Norbert F. Hansen, 93, passed away peacefully in Longmont, Colorado, on November 29, 2025, after a full and accomplished life. Born on September 16, 1932, in Bangor, Wisconsin, Norb was the son of Rudolph and Rose (Bahr) Hansen. He grew up on his family’s dairy farm in Bangor, where he learned the values of hard work, dedication, and responsibility—qualities that shaped every chapter of his life.
On November 4, 1961, Norb married the love of his life, Linda (Duey) Hansen. They shared 64 years of unwavering partnership, devotion, and friendship.
Norb graduated from Bangor High School and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison. While at UW, he was a proud member of Delta Theta Sigma and participated in Air Force ROTC. Following graduation, Norb returned to Wisconsin and worked as Farm Director for WKTY Radio in La Crosse, combining his background in agriculture with his communication skills. He entered active duty with the United States Air Force, serving with distinction. He completed Air Force Pilot Training—graduating 2nd in his class—and flew KC-97 refueling planes with the 307th Bomb Wing. He later worked for the Strategic Air Command (SAC), an experience that remained one of the great honors of his life.
After completing his military service, he joined the La Crosse Cooler Company before eventually moving to Longmont, Colorado, where he built and operated his own successful business for over 50 years. Using his pilot training to cover his sales territory, Norb traveled from the Canadian border to the Mexican border, and from Nebraska to Utah—flying himself to each destination with the same precision and passion he applied to everything he did.
A lifelong horseman, Norb bred, raised, and showed Appaloosa horses in the Longmont area. He served as a Director of the Appaloosa Horse Club, sat on the Select Horse Committee of the National Western Stock Show, and was a proud member of the Mach Buster’s Club. His love of the outdoors was ever-present, and he especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing.
Norb is survived by his wife, Linda Hansen; his sons, Bart Hansen (Pauline) and Todd Hansen (Jenny); his brothers, John Hansen and Leo Hansen; and his sisters, Mary (Hansen) Iglar and Elizabeth (Hansen) Schreader. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ania (Hansen) and Taiwo Ayodele, Isaac and Cassie Hansen, AnneMarie and Sean Kieffer, and Juliana Hansen; and his great-grandchildren Iridia Kieffer, Noah Kieffer, and Tania Ayodele.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Rose Hansen; his daughter Kristine Hansen; and his grandson Brett Hansen.
Norb will be remembered for his integrity, his adventurous spirit, his love of family, and his deep appreciation for the land, animals, and skies that shaped his life. His legacy is carried on by all who knew and loved him.
