Nunzio Anthony Chioda

Nunzio Anthony Chioda of Frederick, died December 31, 2007 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 62.Nunzio was born July 15, 1945 in Longmont, to Nunzio Chioda and Bambina DeAngeles. His father died a few months before his birth. His mother would later marry Domenic Chioda, who raised Nunzio and his siblings.Nunzio graduated from Longmont High School in 1963. He married Janet Conover on September 12, 1964 in Frederick.Nunzio went to work as a machinist in 1964 with Gardner-Denver. He transferred to Rocky Flats in 1983, continuing as a machinist, and later in tool control, before finishing in the warehouse. Medical consequences forced Nunzio to quit his job in 1996. An avid fisherman, Nunzio frequently went to Wyoming with family and friends on weekend and summer trips.Nunzio was a member of St. Theresa?s Catholic Church. He passionately coached women?s softball, for the city leagues and tournament play, as well as, high school teams. He took great pride instructing his daughter Nicole from her infancy through her high school graduation. Preceding him in death were his fathers Nunzio and Domenic Chioda, and his mother Bambina Chioda.Surviving are his wife Janet of Frederick, two daughters, Cheryl Detwiler of Frederick and Nicole Gale and her husband Randy of Dacono; a son Gregory Chioda and his wife Dawn of Erie; a brother Dominic Chioda, Jr. of Frederick, three sisters Lucille Meyer of Westminster, Betty Martinez and her husband Felix of Frederick and Lena Green and her husband Richard of Littleton; one brother, Dominic Chioda, Jr. of Frederick; 6 grandchildren Tanner and Garett Detwiler of Frederick, Jaeden and Jasmyn Chioda of Erie, and Peyton and Carter Gale of Dacono.Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3 at St. Theresa?s Catholic Church, Frederick. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, at St. Theresa?s with Reverend Alan Hartway officiating.Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
