Opal Agatha Elliott

Opal Agatha Elliott, 101, passed away April 23, 2017, at Applewood Living Center.She was born May 25, 1915 in Watonga, Oklahoma, to Ralph and Sylvia (Southerland) Henderson. She moved with her family to Colorado, settling in Longmont. Opal graduated from Longmont High School in 1934.On October 24, 1937, she married C. Keith Elliott.Opal and Keith owned and operated the Sh Mart in downtown Longmont. She later worked at Garden Acres Hardware in Longmont and as a telephone/switchboard operator at Boulder Community Hospital. She retired in 1980.She was a very active member at First Baptist Church. Opal taught Sunday School, was a member of American Baptist Women and held various church offices over the years.Opal loved her family and was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and later grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.She was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Don Brady, granddaughter Marie and great-grandson Eric.Opal is survived by two daughters, Beverly Brady and Shirley Graham (Gary); three sons, Richard Elliott (Connie), Robert Elliott (Judy) and Donald Elliott (Donna); ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Monday, May 1, 2017 at First Baptist Church. Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
