

Otto David J. Brooks, 84, of Longmont, CO passed away March 22, 2017 at Aspen House in Loveland, Colorado. He was born July 13, 1932 in Hettinger, North Dakota to George L. and Eda (Ulhorn) Brooks.David grew up, graduated from High School and farmed in North Dakota. He joined the US Army in February of 1953 and served until June 1954 during the Korean Conflict. David married Joyce Olson on June 5, 1955 in Valley City, North Dakota. They moved to Colorado and he attended The Emily Griffith Opportunity School 1955 - 1956. David worked as a service tech in the refrigeration, heating and air conditioning business. He was also the owner and operator of his own heating and air conditioning business.He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, United Association of Pipefitters Local 208 of Denver, and Refrigeration Service Engineers Society. He enjoyed his family, gardening, raising his cows and discussing his concerns of flooding caused by global warming.He is preceded in death by his parents, a son in law Bruce Harvey, two brothers James and George Brooks, two sisters Sybil Brooks-Duncan, and Joan Luyties.David is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughter Colette R. Brooks, two sons; David Brooks (Donna), Cary Brooks (Patricia), brother Delmar Brooks (Joyce), two Sisters Betty Mikoda and Carolyn Gruber, grandchildren Kyle Chance Brooks, Cody Dean Brooks, Michael Morgan Brooks, Heather Stevens (Alex), Ethan Brooks, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday March 31, 2017 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 803 Third Avenue, Longmont. Inurnment to follow after reception at Ryssby Cemetery. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
