

Paul Dean McIver, age 92, of Allenspark, Colorado, passed away in Arvada, Colorado on March 20, 2024. Paul was born in Denver, Colorado on July 15, 1931, to Lucretia and George D. McIver. He grew up in North Denver where he participated in the Boy Scouts of America, camped, hiked, and spent a lot of time in the mountains. Paul obtained a four-year degree and served in the United States Navy. During his time in the service, he served in the Korean War and rose to the rank of Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Petty Officer.
Paul married Permelia Elizabeth Mattson on August 27, 1955, and together they had three children, Steven Dean McIver, Stewart Christen McIver, and Rachel Gretchen McIver-Thomas. They raised their children in Arvada, Colorado.
He worked as a high school Biology teacher at Englewood High School for 28 years. After he retired from teaching, Paul worked for the Environmental Protection Agency for 22 years. He finally retired for good on his 80th birthday. Paul found joy in environmental photography, traveling, reading, camping, and hiking. He was always studying and loved being a student.
Paul is survived by his sons Steven Dean McIver, Stewart Christien McIver, daughter Rachel Gretchen McIver-Thomas, his brother George D McIver Jr., his grandchildren Jennifer Twisselman, James McIver, JoAnn Lee, Kara Medrano, Lindsay Oun, Amber Thomas and Sidney Thomas, his great-grandchildren, Alexandra Twisselman, Jaxson Twisselman, Aurora Twisselman, Noah Medrano, Athena Medrano, Isaiah Medrano, Sintia Montez, and Nyella Montez, and his nieces and nephews, Tom Finn, Ann Finn, Dan Finn, Sue Finn, Scott McIver, and Brian McIver and was predeceased by his parents, Lucretia McIver and George D. McIver, his wife, Permelia Elizabeth McIver and his sister, Sally Finn.
Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery on April 1, 2024, at 10:30 am.
