Peter William Appenzeller

Peter William Appenzeller passed away November 13, 2021, at the age of 66. He was born July 23, 1955, to William and Carol (Myers) Appenzeller in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended public schools in Boulder, Colorado and received his bachelor’s degree in Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He initially worked in the transportation industry and, later, as a financial consultant for Edward Jones.

Peter was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, husband, and friend. He was a role model to many and transformed numerous lives through his kindness and wisdom. Peter understood the importance of family and was always there for whoever needed him. He loved to laugh with his family and enjoyed teaching those around him how to live life to the fullest. Peter was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed spending time canoeing on the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, hunting in North Dakota, and camping and hiking in the mountains with his family and friends.

Those who survive him are his children, Korrie (Justin) Ponsor; Danielle (Andrei) Lobanov-Rostovsky; Josh (Sienna) Appenzeller; grandsons, Kolecyn Ponsor; Luka Lobanov-Rostovsky; siblings, Cinda (Bob) Vallaster; Rebecca Cook; Mary Alice Wait; Steven (Nancy) Appenzeller; his former wife, Diana (Puyear) Appenzeller; brother-in-law, David Puyear; sister-in-law, Kathy Puyear; mother-in-law, Joyce Puyear; and his many nieces and nephews.

Peter was exceptionally loved by all that knew him, and he will be missed dearly. Peter’s determination, kindness, and great sense of humor will never be forgotten. Peter lives on through his loved ones in all that he’s taught them, and in his favorite music. Peter will be remembered for his warm hugs, welcoming smile, embracing presence, and as a man of faith, devoted to his family.

This is not ‘goodbye,’ but rather, ‘I’ll see you soon.’
