

Peter F. ""Pete"" Dougherty, 57, died January 29, 2013 at his home in Platteville, CO. Pete was born on September 22, 1955 in Hudson, New York to Joseph and Mildred (Donegan) Dougherty. He grew up in Germantown, NY where he attended and graduated from high school.
He was of Catholic faith and spent his working career as a master electrician, but his true love and passion was in teaching and instruction. He had attended Pickens Technical College and afterward pursued a second career as an electrical trade teacher, teaching for a time at Aurora Community College. In his free time Pete enjoyed fishing and camping and generally spending time outdoors.
Mr. Dougherty married Mary Lynn Poquette on May 28, 1999 in Platteville, CO. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2012.
Survivors include his children Lozier “Willie” (Sara) Phillips of El Paso, TX and Georgia (Jeremiah) Vigil of Gilcrest, CO; his brothers Chris Dougherty of Dumfries, VA, Mike Dougherty of Manassas, VA and Andy (Sue) Dougherty of Coxsakie, NY; his sisters Martha Jones of Norman, OK and Vicky Myrick of Coxsackie, NY. He is further survived by 2 grandchildren Isabel and Lelia Phillips.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Howe Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Kevin Cox of Calvary Church in Loveland officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
