

R.W. (Dick) Hauser was promoted to his home in heaven on May 17, 2014. He was born on July 6, 1926 to Alex & Marie Hauser on their family farm in Almena, WI. He was the 7th of 9 children, and was the first of his family to complete college, graduating from Northwestern College in Minneapolis, MN. He served with honor in the Korean War and returned home with a bolt of white silk cloth as an aid in proposing to Charlotte Anderson. She made her own wedding gown from that silk, and they were married in Newfolden, MN on August 20, 1949. After completing his education and ordination under the Evangelical Free Church of America, Hauser pastored churches in Watertown, MN from 1950 - 1955, Holcomb, NE from 1955 “ 1961, Boulder, CO from 1961 - 1968, and Wichita, KS from 1968 “ 1976. For the last 20 years of his career, he served as superintendent for the Western District of the Evangelical Free Church in Sacramento, CA. Three children were born to the Hauser home; Dan (Janet) of Boulder, CO, Diane (deceased 1986) and Grady (Lora Sue) of Elgin, IL. His beloved wife, Char, preceded him to heaven in 2011 after 61 years of marriage. In 1965 he was instrumental in bringing the Billy Graham Crusade to Denver, Hauser was an avid hunter and fisherman. In 1962 the family built a cabin on Dore' Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, that served as the summer retreat and source of adventure and family memories for the next 40 years. In 2006 R.W, and Char moved back to Longmont for the remainder of their retirement years. He is survived by his brother, Ed, a sister, Bea, as well as their 2 sons, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at Calvary Bible Church, Boulder, CO at 10 am. on June 2, 2014, beginning with a 30-minute piano and organ concert. Memorial gifts may be sent to Calvary Bible Church.
