

Rhoda Mae Emerson, 90, of Longmont, CO passed away May 6, 2014 at Longmont United Hospital. Rhoda was born on January 21, 1924 in Clarkfield, MN to Ole John and Anna (Thompson) Winson.Rhoda worked in a War Bonds Department at a bank in Minneapolis, MN. She attended St. Pauls Lutheran Church where she met Stanley Kjerulf Emerson, who was attending the Lutheran Bible Institute. They were married in St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN in August 1945. They were married for 49 years and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and many foreign countries and loved camping with family and friends. Rhoda was widowed in 1994 and moved to the Longmont área from Aurora, CO in November of 2011.Rhoda was a mother, housewife, nurses aid and enjoyed doing volunteer work. She did charity work with the Military Wives Club, missionary work in Taiwan with her husband Stanley, was the coordinator for Aurora Meals on Wheels for 14 years and a volunteer for Aurora InterChurch Task Force. She enjoyed gardening, playing card games with her children and grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles, playing the organ and was an avid reader.Rhoda is preceded in death by her parents and husband Stanley.Rhoda is survived by her sons Phillip Emerson (Sue) of Boise, ID, David Emerson of Evergreen, CO, Stephen Emerson (Roxann) of Lone Tree, CO, daughters Judith Moraign of Longmont, CO and Sharon Emerson of Broomfield, CO, grandchildren Eric Moraign of Longmont, CO, Amy Kuerst of Monr , GA, Christopher Rezendes of Colorado Springs, CO, Jason Rezendes of Broomfield, CO, Daniel Emerson of Kuna, ID, Corey Moraign of Thornton, CO, Kimberly Puyleart of Boise, ID, Melissa Kusnierz of Crystal River, FL, Jennifer Emerson of Lakewood, CO, Michael Emerson of Evergreen, CO, Emily Emerson of Lone Tree, CO and Matthew Emerson of Lone Tree, CO, great-grandchildren Edmund and Grace Moraign, Peter, Timothy and Jeffrey Kuerst, Ryan, Isabella, Alessandra Rezendes, Terren and N l Carter, Haylee Rezendes, Brianna Lyons, Blake Emerson, Dana and Jenna Archabal, and Taylor, Jordon and Mackenzie Kusnierz and sister Barbara Ray (Bobbie).Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, May 12, 2014 at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 1481 Russell Way, Thornton, CO 80229 with visitation 1 hour prior.
