

Richard Arthur Sharp of Longmont died April 16, 2014 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on March 19, 2014. He was 59 years old.He was born August 10, 1954 in Chicopee, MA to Arthur and Phyllis (Hunt) Sharp. Richard traveled and lived all over the United States and in Germany, as his father served in the United States Army.He moved with his family to Longmont in 1969 and attended Longmont High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy on Sept. 20, 1973 and was honorably discharged on July 14, 1977, at which time he returned to Longmont.On February 16, 1985 he married Paula Jeffrey in Longmont. Their daughter, Nicole, was born later that year. They later divorced.Richard began his career with Storage Technology in 1977. He was transferred to Florida and there assisted in the installation of the computer system at the Miami airport in 1986-87. Returning to Longmont he continued with Storage Tech, followed by employment with Dot Hill and for the past several years he worked for Walmart.A motorcycle enthusiast, Richard loved to ride his Harley Davidson bike. He enjoyed listening to music, being around his friends, cracking jokes and making people laugh. He loved life, lived it to the fullest and will be remembered for doing things his way.He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur E. Sharp Jr, on May 29, 2010 and a nephew Robert Rowe on October 16, 2012.Richard is survived by a daughter Nicole Sharp of Longmont, his mother Phyllis Sharp of Longmont, three sisters Patricia Rowe (Bill) of Colorado Springs, Lisa Hawks of Westminster and Laurie Tart (Steve) of Longmont, nephew Nick, nieces Suzanne & Rachel, great nephew Jayson and great niece Danielle.A memorial service officiated by Rev Max Bailey will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with military honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
