

Richard, ""Dick"" Smoot, 74, of Longmont, died November 12, 2009 at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville, CO.Dick was born April 14, 1935 in Glasco, Kansas-the son of Marion Abner Smoot and Gertrude Eloise Howe. He played football during his high school years. Following graduation Dick was drafted into the US Army, serving in the Chemical Corps in Biological Warfare. He met his future wife Ann Dameron in Baltimore, MD and they were married October 6, 1959.His greatest love outside of family was his motor home and his travels to Louisiana and Texas. Dick loved to dance and could be found on a dance floor three nights a week. He also enjoyed playing golf, and was a man known as a generous friend who would always know your name. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ella Mae Patrick and Betty Lou Kaspers. Survivors include his wife Ann, and his daughter Debbie Stamp and her husband Ken of Longmont, CO; his sons Richard Dean Smoot, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Arvada, CO and Daniel Allen Smoot and his wife Doris of Rock Springs, WY. Further survivors include his brothers Max Smoot, Bill Smoot and his wife Darlene; his sister Joan Annis and grandchildren Brett, Stacey, Laurie Smoot, Justin Smoot, and Erin and Mitchell Stamp.Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
