

Robert F. Christensen, of Longmont, died at his home Thursday evening, May 4, 2006 surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He was 77 years old.Born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 27, 1929 to Magnus and Anna (Chleborad) Christensen. He grew up and attended school in Omaha, graduating from Creighton Prep High School in 1947 and went on to receive a bachelor?s degree from Creighton University. On June 14, 1952 he married Lucille Vodicka in Omaha. Robert started working for AT&T in the mid 1950?s. His career transferred the family to Longmont from Omaha in 1969. He would spend 33 years with the company before retiring in 1987,Robert and Lucille spent the winters during their retirement years in Green Valley, AZ. He loved to paint, was an amazing artist, and also enjoyed woodworking. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was also a member of the Light of Christ Ecumenical Catholic Community.Mr. Christensen is survived by his wife Lucille; 2 daughters, Connie Bridge and her fiancé Steve Becker of Longmont and Kari Evig of Longmont 2 sons, David Christensen and his wife Holly Chick of Post Falls, ID and Bob Christensen and his partner Lee Ann Crane of Longmont;; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and brother Richard Christensen and his wife Jean of Omaha, NE.Visitation with family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with a vigil service 7:00 p.m. at Howe Mortuary Chapel located at 439 Coffman Street, Longmont. Mass of the Resurrection will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Light of Christ (Bethlehem Lutheran Church), 1000 W. 15th Ave. in Longmont with Rev. Scott Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
