

Robert A. ""Bob"" Cobean, 75, of Longmont, Colorado, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Longmont United Hospital.He leaves behind his wife, Sherrill Bryan Cobean, whom he married on June 26, 1974, in Loveland, Colorado; six children, Mike Bowers of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Pat Bowers of Glenrock, WyomingQ, Sherrie Brown and husband, Ron of Berthoud, Colorado, Pam George and Deanna Carlson of Longmont, Ed Thompson and wife, Lisa of Fort Collins, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his first wife, Shirley Sammons Cobean.Bob was born December 28, 1932, in Boise, Idaho, and adopted by Ross and Susie (Smith) Cobean at the age of nine months. He was very proud of being adopted. He grew up in Idaho and graduated from Weiser (ID) High School in 1950. Bob enlisted in the United States Marines, earning the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War.Following his honorable discharge in 1954, Bob used his GI Bill to attend meat cutter school in Toledo, Ohio. He worked at a variety of places before settling in with Albertsons where he worked for 30+ years before retiring. He then built his own smokehouse and began smoking meat for several people. His beer sticks where enjoyed by many.Bob was an avid golfer for the last 20 years, always looking forward to joining his golfing buddies for another nine holes and getting his next hole-in-one. He was a big man with a big heart. He will be missed by all who knew him.
