
Robert Bob Finger of Johnstown, CO, age 72, died peacefully surrounded by his family on October 10, 2012 at Hospice Care in Greeley, CO.Robert was born on September 14, 1940 in Irvington, NJ to Christian and Frieda Finger, immigrants from Switzerland and Germany respectively.Bob married Andree Robert on May 21, 1962 at First Baptist Church in Toms River, N.J. They just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They have two children Robert (Rob) of Westminster, CO and Brian and Tammy and their three children, Kayla, Taylor, and Ashley of Johnstown, CO.Bob is survived by 3 brothers and one sister (and their children): Christian and Barbara Finger of Niwot, CO (Christian, Kimberly, and Jonathan); Walter Finger of Beulah, CO (BreAnna); Bruce and Becky Finger of Berthoud, CO (Cassandra, Bruce Jr., Wesley, and Roderick); and Sandy and Damon Garcia of Erie, CO (Michael, David, Christopher and Tina). He is also survived by several great-nephews, and great-nieces.His father Christian, mother Frieda, and his sister Ruth Anne Diaz preceded him in death. He is survived by his cousin Florence (Murray) Goldberg of Toms River, New Jersey and numerous cousins in Switzerland and Germany and one cousin Hans (Roz) Ruggli in Johannesburg, South Africa.Bob went to Point Pleasant Beach High School in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey. Bob was in the automotive business most of his adult life, both as a mechanic and in retail sales. Bob owned his first race car when he was 16 years old and raced at Wall Stadium in Wall Township, New Jersey as well as many race tracks on the East coast. It was at the Old Bridge Speedway that he met his wife Andree. Bob and Andree and the boys moved to Colorado on March 28, 1977 in order to be closer to their extended family.Bob belonged to NASCAR and spent a large part of his early life working on and driving race cars. He also enjoyed many hours building motorcycles with his son Rob and many nights at the race track with his son Brian. He was very proud of both of his sons and loved spending time with them.Bob's later life was devoted to his family, especially his 3 granddaughters who knew him as Poppy. Time with extended family was always a priority for Bob. He was always the first to say I'll be there when invited to a family gathering and the word No was not in his vocabulary when he was asked for help. He will be remembered by all as a simple, quiet, and gentle man.A Memorial Service will be held this Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Loveland Baptist Church, 4044 Duffield Ave., Loveland, CO followed by a luncheon reception.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Northern Colorado in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO.
